FutureA+
The Jets found their guy under center in Manning: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Arch Manning, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If Moore pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Banks steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Arch Manning
In pick 32 they get their guy under center for the next decade, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Chris Bell
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Bell at slot 36, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
A tidy bit of business in No. 39, where Kenyon Sadiq graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
A premium they did not need to pay, Nyck Harbor a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick46
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks slid further than he should have, and pick No. 46 is lovely value for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105
Rnd4
Derrick Moore
Value said wait; Derrick Moore in Round 4, Pick 5 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Value with a capital V on Davison Igbinosun in the 178th overall pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III is a better player than the 192nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick202
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Raylen Wilson at Round 6, Pick 24 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick208
Rnd6
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick237
Rnd7
Malik Hartford
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Hartford at No. 237 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick253
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
Nice patience on Diego Pavia, who had no business lasting to pick No. 253. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick254
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona in the 254th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
