Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Jaguars did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jaguars reached some 59 spots for Alijah Clark, and value like that does not grow back. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Mullings falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
James Pearce Jr. in slot 5 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick36 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon in the 36th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick70 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Maxwell Hairston. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
Value with a capital V on Barrett Carter in the 88th overall pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick106 Rnd4 Gunnar Helm
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Gunnar Helm at No. 106 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
They robbed the room for Tez Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings in the 143rd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
The board had Jack Nelson higher than pick No. 184, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick196 Rnd6 Alijah Clark
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Alijah Clark. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick223 Rnd7 Eric Gregory
Eric Gregory in Round 7, Pick 5 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
