Draft Grade — Browns

FutureF
The Browns drew a line under the quarterback search with Sanders: C+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Browns did exactly that with Gee Scott Jr. in the Round 5 slot. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Getting Marks where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher and safety went begging.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Pick32
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Dylan Sampson
A real head-scratcher, Dylan Sampson in No. 33 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick64
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. slipping to pick No. 64 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They took Quinshon Judkins at par in the 67th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
A quiet steal in slot 94: Chris Paul Jr. for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick96
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and safety to take Carson Schwesinger, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick104
Rnd4
Dillon Gabriel
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dillon Gabriel well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Giles Jackson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Giles Jackson this early at pick 134. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Addison West
Addison West at No. 161 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick164
Rnd5
Gee Scott Jr.
A wild overpay on Gee Scott Jr. in slot 164, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick165
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
They reached into another round for Oronde Gadsden II, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick168
Rnd5
CJ Dippre
A big swing on CJ Dippre at the 168th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick179
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
The board fumbled Dorian Strong all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick192
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 192nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick200
Rnd6
Rayshon Luke
This one needs a full-page explanation: Rayshon Luke in the Round 6 slot, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the 216th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick255
Rnd7
Woody Marks
Somehow Woody Marks was still sitting there in No. 255, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
