Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+.

Somebody took the Browns to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

The cost of the Freeling reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On value alone, Murdock makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In pick No. 20 they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Monroe Freeling
In the 24th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70 Rnd3 Markel Bell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Markel Bell in pick 70, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick107 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They let Nicholas Singleton come to them and pounced at the 107th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Reggie Virgil
Reggie Virgil at slot 139 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at No. 144 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
No edge and no loss on Domani Jackson in Round 5, Pick 9; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Red Murdock
Red Murdock at Round 6, Pick 25 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick248 Rnd7 Eli Heidenreich
Eli Heidenreich in pick No. 248 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
