Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Dolphins won the night they stopped Golday from sliding. Grade: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jake Golday got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at Round 4, Pick 11. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Klubnik pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In No. 11 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman is a better player than pick 43 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
The board fumbled Eli Stowers all the way to pick No. 75, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87
Rnd3
Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in slot 87 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht at the 90th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jake Golday
Somehow Jake Golday was still sitting there in the 111th pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
Nothing to complain about; DeMonte Capehart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick227
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Thaddeus Dixon for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
