Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureB
Good, not great, for the Buccaneers: B. The Buccaneers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Sonny Styles, the No. 82 name on the board, in the Round 4 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Luckie pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In slot 22 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in No. 54, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at No. 96 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122
Rnd4
Sonny Styles
Circle this one: Sonny Styles at slot 122 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick161
Rnd5
Lawson Luckie
This one needs a full-page explanation: Lawson Luckie in the Round 5 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick200
Rnd6
James Williams
A big swing on James Williams at the 200th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick235
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
A tidy bit of business in the 235th pick, where Riley Mahlman graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
