Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB-

FutureA
Good, not great, for the Browns: B. There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Browns never got to the one that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Cooper Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Campbell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In slot 18 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In the 24th overall pick they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
No drama and no debate, Emmanuel Pregnon went about where he belonged in pick No. 39. It fills a real need, too.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 17 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at pick 70 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Value with a capital V on Omar Cooper Jr. in the 97th pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107
Rnd4
Kaytron Allen
Fair-plus on Kaytron Allen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick139
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Domani Jackson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
They took Tanner Koziol at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick147
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
A reach for DJ Campbell in the 147th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick194
Rnd6
Isaiah Jatta
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Jatta in the 194th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204
Rnd6
J. Michael Sturdivant
A reach on J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 204; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman in pick No. 221 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jaylon Braxton
A quiet steal in No. 248: Jaylon Braxton for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
