Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureB-
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a D- weekend for the Raiders. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
They are betting Dennis-Sutton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. However the rest shakes out, Allar at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick29
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In slot 29 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Dani Dennis-Sutton
A premium they did not need to pay, Dani Dennis-Sutton a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
They did well to land Michael Taaffe in Round 2, Pick 30, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick67
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
The board had cheaper options than Lee Hunter at No. 67, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102
Rnd4
Xavier Scott
They paid sticker price for Xavier Scott in the 102nd pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick130
Rnd4
Logan Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Logan Jones at pick 130, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels in No. 135 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick168
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in slot 168, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick176
Rnd5
Lander Barton
Lander Barton at the 176th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
