Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Slaughter: B-.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Browns left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.

They banked enough surplus on Slaughter to cover a lot of smaller sins. If Campbell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 6 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the 24th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
No drama and no debate, Olaivavega Ioane went about where he belonged in slot 39. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 70 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They robbed the room for Nicholas Singleton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Good price on Kage Casey in pick 139, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick144 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at pick No. 144 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick147 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A conviction pick on DJ Campbell at slot 147 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in Round 6, Pick 25 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Hall in No. 248. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
