FutureA+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Raiders and Ponds: D+. Somebody in pick No. 174 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while D'Angelo Ponds, the No. 105 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In pick 24 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick28
Rnd1
R Mason Thomas
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Colton Hood
Good price on Colton Hood in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in No. 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at the 74th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick78
Rnd3
Carter Smith
Carter Smith in slot 78 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jack Endries
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jack Endries in the 102nd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 113 with a little surplus value in Bishop Fitzgerald. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
Steal is underselling it; Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 117 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128
Rnd4
Caden Curry
They will replay Caden Curry at No. 128 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
By-the-book stuff, Skyler Gill-Howard at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick174
Rnd5
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in Round 5, Pick 36 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick180
Rnd6
Taylen Green
A tidy bit of business in the 180th pick, where Taylen Green graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick183
Rnd6
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton at the 183rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
