Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Hood: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Colton Hood slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Owens II reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Somehow Colton Hood was still sitting there in the 53rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
You do not let a wide receiver like Germie Bernard reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick85 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Julian Neal in pick 85 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick99 Rnd3 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik slid further than he should have, and No. 99 is lovely value for the quarterback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore slipping to slot 121 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick135 Rnd4 Blake Miller
A tidy bit of business in the 135th pick, where Blake Miller graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick159 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Max Iheanachor in pick No. 159, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
They let Nolan Rucci come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 34. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick214 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in the 214th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
A big swing on Rueben Owens II at slot 224, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237 Rnd7 PJ Williams
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and PJ Williams at pick No. 237 is the proof. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
