Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedC+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals let Walker fall into their laps, and walked away with a C+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Deone Walker tumbling to the Bengals in the 119th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. With cornerback, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them. The Green pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mike Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick49 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Donovan Ezeiruaku adds an edge rusher and leaves cornerback, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick81 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
A want over a need in the 81st pick: Jordan Burch adds an edge rusher while cornerback, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick119 Rnd4 Deone Walker
Taking Deone Walker in Round 4, Pick 17 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at the 153rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick193 Rnd6 CJ West
CJ West at No. 193 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
