Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-

FutureA+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Raiders. Some picks age like wine; Dominic Zvada at the 193rd pick will need to, sitting 55 spots clear of his grade. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Rodriguez pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back and tight end still on the board. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They banked enough surplus on Kilgore to cover a lot of smaller sins. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick36
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
No edge and no loss on Sonny Styles in Round 2, Pick 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick44
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
They took Emmanuel Pregnon at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Fair-plus on Jake Slaughter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at pick 67 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick72
Rnd3
Carter Smith
Carter Smith in No. 72 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
No drama and no debate, D'Angelo Ponds went about where he belonged in the 102nd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch in No. 109 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Lance at slot 117, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 23 is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick125
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
They paid sticker price for Trinidad Chambliss in the 125th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at pick No. 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Jacob Rodriguez with running back and tight end unsolved.
Pick139
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A conviction pick on Davison Igbinosun at the 139th pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick175
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
By-the-book stuff, Gracen Halton at pick 175 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick176
Rnd5
Jalon Daniels
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalon Daniels in the 176th overall pick, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick179
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
A big swing on Trey Zuhn III at Round 5, Pick 40, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick188
Rnd6
Pat Coogan
Value said wait; Pat Coogan in slot 188 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick193
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dominic Zvada well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick203
Rnd6
Antonio Kite
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 203 with a little surplus value in Antonio Kite. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling in No. 207 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211
Rnd6
Daevin Hobbs
They liked Daevin Hobbs enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 211. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Catalon
Jalen Catalon at No. 246 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
