Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
D
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB
Grand theft in the 33rd overall pick: the Falcons steal McMillan and grade out a D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Falcons, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Stackhouse pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Getting McMillan where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
They barely believed it either: Tetairoa McMillan still on the board at slot 33. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick45
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in pick 45 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick46
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in pick No. 46, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick80
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger is a better player than No. 80 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
They paid sticker price for Quinn Ewers in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in Round 4, Pick 16 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick189
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
A wild overpay on Nazir Stackhouse in the 189th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
You do not let a running back like Tahj Brooks reach No. 218 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick242
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson slid further than he should have, and slot 242 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
