Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 218: the Falcons steal Mullings and grade out a D. The Falcons treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 2 slot on Jared Wilson a full 43 spots early. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Mullings at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
Good price on James Pearce Jr. in the 15th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick21
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jared Wilson
They reached a country mile for Jared Wilson at pick 61, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at slot 118 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Dorian Strong
A tidy bit of business in slot 128, where Dorian Strong graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick156
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at pick 156 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at Round 6, Pick 9 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick218
Rnd7
Kalel Mullings
You do not let a running back like Kalel Mullings reach the 218th pick and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick242
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
They barely believed it either: R.J. Mickens still on the board at pick No. 242. A minor itch, scratched.
