kylebrandt46 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took John Mateer at pick 111 regardless, 25 picks early. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In pick No. 11 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
CJ Allen
No edge and no loss on CJ Allen in the 43rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
By-the-book stuff, Whit Weeks at pick 75 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111
Rnd4
John Mateer
They reached into another round for John Mateer, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Lander Barton
Lander Barton at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick180
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Tristan Leigh
No drama and no debate, Tristan Leigh went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
