Draft Grade — Jets

FutureC
The Jets won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Jets started one anyway for Nazir Stackhouse, 106 picks ahead of schedule.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Landing Nash that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Adding Jonathan Mingo by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In pick 12 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, reach and all.
Pick42
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at Round 2, Pick 10 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
They paid a round early for Jayden Higgins in the 44th overall pick, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers at pick No. 68 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Antwaun Powell-Ryland. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick108
Rnd4
Nazir Stackhouse
A wild overpay on Nazir Stackhouse in slot 108, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
No edge and no loss on Nohl Williams in the 110th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145
Rnd5
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at slot 145 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick162
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at pick 162 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Nick Nash
Taking Nick Nash in No. 174 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 180th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Simeon Barrow Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Simeon Barrow Jr. in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick207
Rnd6
Teddye Buchanan
They reached a country mile for Teddye Buchanan at Round 6, Pick 31, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
