Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
F
ValueB-

FutureD-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Ransaw from sliding. Grade: F. The phones were a trap the Seahawks kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Schwesinger proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Landing Ransaw that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the 10th pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick18
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
In slot 18 they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
They went early on Jayden Higgins in the 41st overall pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick50
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at pick No. 50. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick51
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at Round 2, Pick 19 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick52
Rnd2
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at pick 52 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
They did well to land Mason Taylor in pick No. 82, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick130
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at slot 130 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick137
Rnd4
Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid up for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 172 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Nothing to complain about; Seth McLaughlin went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick191
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
A reasonable price with a little left over, JJ Pegues in the 191st pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Fair-plus on Jaylen Reed, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. is a better player than Round 7, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick234
Rnd7
Caleb Ransaw
Caleb Ransaw at No. 234 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
