The Packers won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B. The Packers spent real capital to be 89 picks early on Bam Martin-Scott, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Sanker makes the weekend a net positive.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a potential shutdown corner, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick124
Rnd4
Antwane Wells Jr.
They talked themselves into Antwane Wells Jr. at No. 124, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
Taking Jonas Sanker in pick 159 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick250
Rnd7
Bam Martin-Scott
Bam Martin-Scott at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
