Truckley45 DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+

FutureB-
The Jets found their guy under center in Mendoza: B-. Start where it matters. The Jets took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Leavitt pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Every board in the league had Birchmeier lower, and that gap is the story.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 5 they get the face of the franchise, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 28th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that.
Pick36
Rnd2
Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They liked Quincy Rhodes Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in pick 44 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick105
Rnd4
Sam Leavitt
Circle this one: Sam Leavitt at the 105th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick178
Rnd5
Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor in Round 5, Pick 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick193
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at slot 193 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205
Rnd6
Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite at No. 205 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
They took Jaren Kanak at par in pick 210, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick215
Rnd7
DeAndre Moore Jr.
They jumped the gun on DeAndre Moore Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at slot 240 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick253
Rnd7
Alex Birchmeier
They talked themselves into Alex Birchmeier at No. 253, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jordan White
A big swing on Jordan White at pick No. 254, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
