Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B-. The pick that carries the class is Julian Neal, a cornerback the Cowboys were happy to stop sliding in No. 91. Patience, rewarded.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Moses to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
They did well to land Arvell Reese in pick No. 12, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick60
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
Good price on A.J. Haulcy in slot 60, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick91
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal is a better player than pick 91 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick125
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trinidad Chambliss at the 125th overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Washington Jr. at No. 126, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick150
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts in No. 150 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. in slot 166 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick168
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick No. 168 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177
Rnd5
Bud Clark
They took Bud Clark at par in the 177th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
No drama and no debate, Raylen Wilson went about where he belonged in the 189th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in Round 6, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215
Rnd6
Ahmaad Moses
A reach for Ahmaad Moses in pick 215; a little patience would have been rewarded. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick221
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Nice patience on Brett Norfleet, who had no business lasting to the 225th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
