Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
Nobody dealt better than the Commanders this weekend: B-.

The Commanders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Derrick Moore at Round 2, Pick 29 regardless, 39 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Sadiq pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 13th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In the 29th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at Round 3, Pick 7 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick145 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They paid a round early for DJ Campbell in slot 145, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at pick 185 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick196 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in No. 196 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick223 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II at pick No. 223 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
