Jetz7373 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers

Draft Grade — Steelers

Larceny in the 99th pick lands the Steelers a B-, Scott and all. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Keionte Scott slide 27 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Mateer proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while interior defensive lineman and edge rusher went begging.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In No. 21 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
John Mateer
A wild overpay on John Mateer in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
They liked Austin Siereveld enough to skip the value, taking him in the 76th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick85
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at Round 3, Pick 21 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in slot 99 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jadarian Price
A reach on Jadarian Price in the 121st pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick135
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Keylan Rutledge at offensive lineman with interior defensive lineman and edge rusher open.
Pick159
Rnd5
Michael Trigg
They will replay Michael Trigg at pick No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214
Rnd6
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson slipping to Round 6, Pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
Rasheem Biles at the 215th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick224
Rnd7
Dane Key
Dane Key is a better player than pick No. 224 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237
Rnd7
Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at the 237th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
