Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
D

FutureB-
The Falcons let Loveland fall and pounced. Final grade: D. The Falcons went off the board in a big way for Xavier Truss, 49 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
That Loveland pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In the 24th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Value with a capital V on Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 22, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87
Rnd3
Colston Loveland
The board fumbled Colston Loveland all the way to pick No. 87, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97
Rnd3
Trey Amos
They robbed the room for Trey Amos here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick103
Rnd4
Chimere Dike
They took Chimere Dike at par in No. 103, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at pick 118 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips slipping to Round 4, Pick 18 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick218
Rnd7
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse is a better player than slot 218 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick242
Rnd7
Xavier Truss
This one needs a full-page explanation: Xavier Truss in the Round 7 slot, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
