Quintayvious Hutchins was a three-star recruit out of Bessemer City High School, who ranked in the 40s among Alabama prospects by most services, he chose Boston College not just for the ACC competition but because he wanted an education he felt he could not get at home. He has spoken openly about growing up without much, and that hunger to seize every opportunity has defined his college career from the jump.The early years at BC were anything but glamorous. Hutchins redshirted as a true freshman in 2021, then spent his redshirt freshman season bouncing between defensive end and tight end before settling back on the defensive side. Through 2022 and 2023, his contributions came almost entirely on special teams, logging just 18 defensive snaps across two years with only a handful of tackles to show for it. The turning point arrived in 2024 under head coach Bill O'Brien, when Hutchins finally cracked the rotation at defensive end, playing in all 13 games with seven starts.
