- He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem.
- Has excellent ball skills, tracking the ball effectively and instinctively taking the right route to break up the play. Hicks has the strong hands and coordination to come down with interceptions.
- Has a tall frame and long arms, plus strong hands, giving him a huge catch radius.
- Good hustle player who puts himself in the action when he's not directly involved. Knows how to use his height and vertical leap.
- Hicks has the ability to move down and cover tight ends, with the fluid hips to turn and the speed to run with anyone down the middle of the field.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Needs to tighten his angles in pursuit. Needs to show better tackling technique to consistently finish.
- Takes poor angles on the ball and lacks the pure speed to chase down the ballcarrier.
- Has a cornerback body and needs to continue to get stronger to be more effective shedding blocks.
- Isn’t great in route recognition when he’s facing the action, is hesitant and susceptible to double moves, and too often gets unnecessarily handsy when playing trail position
