Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has the quick feet to mirror receivers underneath. Chestnut also has the fluid hips and top-end speed to turn and run downfield. Chestnut shows good awareness when dropping into zone coverage, with good route recognition and the ability to break quickly and cover a lot of ground.
- Aware in the red zone, stays on the back line to take away fade throws. Capable of making quarterbacks pay for late throws.
- He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem.
- Takes accurate angles to the ballcarrier. A strong, aggressive tackler and doesn't back down against the run.
- Can get up on the line of scrimmage and deliver a solid punch early in routes, then use that quickness to shadow, or back off and close quickly when the ball comes out
- He’s a willing and capable hitter in run support and closes fast to make plays against quick screens.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Needs to tighten his angles in pursuit. Needs to show better tackling technique to consistently finish.
- Questionable technique and Chestnut gets lazy with fundamentals, sometimes getting high in his backpedal and will breach the coverage call seeking flashy plays
- Needs to get stronger. Too easily lost in the trash. Not a sudden athlete and shows body stiffness when attempting to quickly redirect.
