Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B- to prove it.

There is reaching, and then there is Matthew Jones at pick 207. The Chiefs jumped the board by 26 and dared it to prove them wrong. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In pick 29 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A conviction pick on Dominick Puni at the 92nd pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129 Rnd4 Edefuan Ulofoshio
This one needs a full-page explanation: Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 129, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at pick No. 171. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick175 Rnd5 Isaiah Williams
They went early on Isaiah Williams in slot 175, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
They reached a country mile for Matthew Jones at No. 207, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick250 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
The board had cheaper options than DeMonte Capehart at the 250th overall pick, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
