Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Sampson: A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

Sampson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Tuimoloau lower, and that gap is the story.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 25th overall pick they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
They reached a country mile for JT Tuimoloau at pick 39, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick58 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Derrick Harmon in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick72 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at slot 72 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Good price on Jayden Higgins in No. 78, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick113 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Lathan Ransom in the Round 4 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
