FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dwight McGlothern, 43 picks early at Round 6, Pick 31. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ulofoshio. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the 32nd pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Mekhi Wingo
They jumped the gun on Mekhi Wingo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
A reach for Dominick Puni in the 91st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95
Rnd3
Javon Foster
Javon Foster in No. 95 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick128
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A slide stopped in pick 128, with Darius Robinson worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161
Rnd5
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick169
Rnd5
Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at No. 169 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick171
Rnd5
Isaiah Williams
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaiah Williams well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
By-the-book stuff, Michael Barrett at pick No. 175 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
They talked themselves into Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 31, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick249
Rnd7
Rondell Bothroyd
Rondell Bothroyd at the 249th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
