Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a D.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Steelers would have aced it. Jasheen Davis at pick 223 is 71 spots clear of where he belonged. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Kiser.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Omarion Hampton
In the 21st pick they get a centerpiece for the ground game. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in Round 2, Pick 20 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in No. 65 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick74 Rnd3 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at the 74th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kyren Lacy
A wild overpay on Kyren Lacy in pick 83, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
By-the-book stuff, Mello Dotson at slot 121 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick161 Rnd5 Connor Colby
No drama and no debate, Connor Colby went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis at the 223rd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jack Kiser in pick No. 229, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jalen Rivers
Value said wait; Jalen Rivers in Round 7, Pick 27 says they were not listening. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
