Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
Higgins should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jay Higgins, the No. 118 name on the board, stolen at the 229th pick.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Nelson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at Round 1, Pick 32 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick52
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Warren in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker slipping to slot 83 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jack Nelson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jack Nelson this early at pick No. 87. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick121
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at No. 121 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161
Rnd5
Devin Neal
They robbed the room for Devin Neal here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick196
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
They will replay Cam Skattebo at the 196th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
Good price on Jaylen Reed in the 223rd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick229
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
Circle this one: Jay Higgins at the 229th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in No. 245, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
