FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Sanders: B+. You could see the war room lean forward. Raheim Sanders at slot 227 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Reaching for Cook left real value on the table behind him.
Adding Martin Emerson Jr. by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In pick 11 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, outstanding value to boot.
Pick44
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
A reach on Alfred Collins in pick No. 44; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick94
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Shemar Turner at the 94th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick100
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in No. 100, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick113
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the 113th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
A tidy little value on Jeffrey Bassa in Round 4, Pick 24, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick138
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
They took Aeneas Peebles at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jake Majors
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 147 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Value with a capital V on Logan Brown in pick No. 160, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at No. 227 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick249
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa slid further than he should have, and pick 249 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick252
Rnd7
Brady Cook
They talked themselves into Brady Cook at slot 252, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
