The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Majors: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Majors tumbling to the Bears in the Round 6 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They will need Walker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In the 10th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tate Ratledge in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick41 Rnd2 Deone Walker
Deone Walker at slot 41 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick72 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in pick 72 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147 Rnd5 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 147 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jake Majors
They will replay Jake Majors at Round 6, Pick 18 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick233 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
Taking Seth McLaughlin in the 233rd pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick240 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
A premium they did not need to pay, Luke Lachey a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
