Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B+
ValueB-

FutureB+
The Patriots let Skattebo fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. Somebody in pick No. 217 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Kolton Miller pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, reach and all.
Pick39
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
They took Matthew Golden at par in No. 39, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at slot 68 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick69
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick77
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
They jumped the gun on Tez Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at Round 4, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick143
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at pick No. 143 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217
Rnd7
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at the 217th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
They let Seth McLaughlin come to them and pounced at the 220th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick238
Rnd7
Andres Borregales
They barely believed it either: Andres Borregales still on the board at pick No. 238. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
