Rocket DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Jackson: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ja'Quinden Jackson got past him. The Bears do not have to explain a thing at No. 235. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Burch lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in No. 39, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They jumped the gun on JT Tuimoloau, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Value said wait; Jordan Burch in slot 72 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149
Rnd5
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at the 149th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the 197th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick235
Rnd7
Ja'Quinden Jackson
They will replay Ja'Quinden Jackson at pick 235 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick242
Rnd7
Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe slipping to pick No. 242 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
