Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Packers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Brandon Coleman in the Round 4 slot. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brian Thomas Jr.. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick41 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They paid a round early for Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 41, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick58 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in the 58th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A tidy little value on Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 28, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick93 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
They jumped the gun on Cole Bishop, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elijah Jones at No. 126 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
A straight-up fair deal on Roger Rosengarten at slot 128, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick130 Rnd4 Brandon Coleman
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brandon Coleman in No. 130, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jaylin Simpson
They took Jaylin Simpson at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jared Wiley
They did well to land Jared Wiley in pick No. 169, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick202 Rnd6 Cedric Johnson
Value said wait; Cedric Johnson in pick 202 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee in Round 6, Pick 44 is fair value, right on his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick245 Rnd7 Dylan McMahon
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dylan McMahon. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick250 Rnd7 Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor in the 250th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jordan Whittington
Jordan Whittington at Round 7, Pick 35 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
