Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Judkins should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B+.

Somebody in pick No. 197 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Quinshon Judkins, the No. 70 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The Sanders pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In the 14th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in the 39th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
They will replay Tyler Warren at pick No. 44 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick45 Rnd2 Deone Walker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Deone Walker well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
A safety of that caliber at pick 72 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 5, Pick 10 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Quinshon Judkins
The board fumbled Quinshon Judkins all the way to No. 197, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Connor Colby
Somehow Connor Colby was still sitting there in slot 211, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jonah Monheim in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick235 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
They robbed the room for Luke Lachey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick242 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at slot 242 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick249 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at pick No. 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
