Allar should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a B. The Cardinals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Drew Allar fell into Round 5, Pick 4.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Rice proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In slot 8 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick70
Rnd3
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at the 70th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
A slide stopped in pick No. 106, with Danny Stutsman worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142
Rnd5
Drew Allar
They will replay Drew Allar at pick 142 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178
Rnd6
Zach Rice
Value said wait; Zach Rice in the 178th overall pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick243
Rnd7
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton at No. 243 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
