Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D-
ValueB NeedA- TradesF FutureD+
The Steelers left with their quarterback, and a D- to match.

You build a draft on nights like this. Josaiah Stewart had no business being available in slot 223, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

If Higgins pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
They reached a country mile for Jayden Higgins at the Round 2 slot, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 19, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121 Rnd4 Wyatt Milum
Taking Wyatt Milum in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick140 Rnd5 Jahdae Barron
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at No. 140 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick223 Rnd7 Josaiah Stewart
They barely believed it either: Josaiah Stewart still on the board at pick No. 223. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the 229th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at the 245th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
