Draft Grade — Giants
Overall C+
ValueD- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Milroe is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: C+.

The tape said wait; the Giants did not. Francisco Mauigoa went at slot 166, a good 98 picks before the board was ready. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

Whatever Jalen Milroe becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Martinez falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jalen Milroe
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Shavon Revel Jr.
Shavon Revel Jr. at Round 2, Pick 20 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jack Bech
Jack Bech at slot 71 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in No. 107 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134 Rnd4 Logan Brown
They reached a country mile for Logan Brown at the 134th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd5 Francisco Mauigoa
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Francisco Mauigoa well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick217 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
A big swing on Oronde Gadsden II at slot 217, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick242 Rnd7 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez at No. 242 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
