Thornton Jr. should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B+.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dont'e Thornton Jr. fell into the 249th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

If Pegues pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
