FutureB-
The Titans fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. The war room fell hard for Jaden Shirden, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 8: 67 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Titans paired the rookies with proven help, DJ Moore leading the way.
That Wilson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. in the 35th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick56
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
They liked Payton Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 56. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 72nd pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mike Sainristil in pick No. 91. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick114
Rnd4
Javon Foster
The board had cheaper options than Javon Foster at slot 114, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at No. 127 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
They paid a round early for Cody Schrader in the 144th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Michael Barrett. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick217
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
They went early on Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 217, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jaden Shirden
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaden Shirden this early at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick256
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
Hayden Hatten at pick 256 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
