Larceny in No. 149 lands the Bears a B, Winston Jr. and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Kevin Winston Jr. had no business being available in pick 149, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Booker in pick 41. The roster fit checks out.
Pick45
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They paid a round early for TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 45, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick72
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 72nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kevin Winston Jr.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in slot 149, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
