Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chiefs did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Every board in the league had Sydnor lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emeka Egbuka. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in the 57th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at No. 89 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125 Rnd4 Gabriel Murphy
A straight-up fair deal on Gabriel Murphy at slot 125, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick167 Rnd5 Tre Harris
Tre Harris in pick No. 167 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Fair-plus on Jaylin Simpson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick203 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
They paid a round early for Miles Frazier in Round 6, Pick 28, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246 Rnd7 Khordae Sydnor
A reach on Khordae Sydnor in No. 246; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
