Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chiefs a B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Chiefs spent the 249th overall pick on Keilan Robinson, a name most had 85 spots down the list. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

It is not that Stover is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In slot 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
They paid a round early for Payton Wilson in pick 60, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cade Stover
A curious use of Round 3, Pick 28. Tight end, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a TE-EDGE in Cade Stover did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
The board had Kris Abrams-Draine higher than the 128th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
A straight-up fair deal on Kitan Oladapo at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick171 Rnd5 Michael Barrett
A conviction pick on Michael Barrett at No. 171 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick175 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at Round 5, Pick 39 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick206 Rnd6 Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Keilan Robinson
Keilan Robinson in No. 249 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
