Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

Nobody else had Hayden Conner anywhere near the 179th pick. The Browns did, by 31 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gordon II.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

So much rides on Nic Scourton that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to slot 33. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They paid a round early for Donovan Jackson in No. 67, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
A reach on Ashton Gillotte in pick No. 81; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick 118 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick179 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in the 179th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick192 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in No. 192 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick200 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in pick No. 200 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
You do not let a wide receiver like Kyle Williams reach the 216th overall pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick254 Rnd7 Gino Garcia
Gino Garcia in Round 7, Pick 38 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
