The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with David Walker in slot 55.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Joshua Palmer deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
