The Giants found their guy under center in Daniels: D-. You could see the war room lean forward. DJ James at the 171st pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
The cost of the Chambers reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
