Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Reid: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Karene Reid tumbling to the Browns in the 243rd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The cost of the Sanders reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the 9th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in Round 2, Pick 1 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker at No. 67 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
Jared Ivey at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick85
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
No drama and no debate, Ozzy Trapilo went about where he belonged in slot 85. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in pick No. 94, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick125
Rnd4
Nick Nash
Nick Nash in pick 125 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd6
Logan Brown
Circle this one: Logan Brown at the 179th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick192
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Nice patience on Cobee Bryant, who had no business lasting to pick No. 192. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at the 227th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick243
Rnd7
Karene Reid
They will replay Karene Reid at slot 243 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
